| The Intital granting period will run through September 30, 2005. Phase One will cover the Sheltered Instruction and Bilingual training onJune 12th through June 15th, 2005 at the University of Idaho McCall Field Campus, through initial implementation of the training into school classrooms beginning Fall 2005. The grant has three primarily functions; the provision of professional development to elementary school teachers with English Language Learners and/or children in poverty and its implementation; the ongoing evaluation and mentoring of the professional devlopment by the school administrator; and finally the establishment of a collaborative support network of participating teachers, administrators, and university faculty. The second grant period runs through September 30, 2006. Phase Two will cover a second SIOP and Bilingual training on June 11 - 14th, 2006 at the McCall Field Campus. The second training will be for participating schools and universities, but wiil focus on an entirely differenct group of teachers and university faculty. Phase Three will essential be an evaluation of the classroom SIOP implementation efforts of participating schools, an evaluation of participating university Colleges of Education implementation of the SIOP model into teacher preparation cirriculum, and finally an assessment of student achievement 2005-2007.
